Reagan Gold Group is an operating gold IRA dealer in Los Angeles, legally Reagan Gold Group, LLC. The BBB lists its business start as August 24, 2017, with an A+ grade and 5 complaints in three years (November 6, 2026). It is defending a telemarketing class action, and it publishes no fees or prices. So the company is real. The question is what you pay and what you can check before you send money.

A gold IRA is an IRA that holds physical gold through a custodian, the trust company that keeps the account. A dealer is the company that sells you the metal. Reagan Gold Group is one of the gold IRA companies SafeOunce checks with the same records, fees and contract questions. This review covers Reagan Gold Group, LLC (reagangoldgroup.com, also RGG USA): its owner, court record, quoted spread range, $25,000 minimum, a $100,000 cost example and its coin list.

The 14 facts below come from the company's website, the BBB, Trustpilot and federal court files, each dated.

Is Reagan Gold Group Legit? Our Verdict#

Reagan Gold Group is a real company with an A+ BBB grade and no regulator action found, but it publishes no fees or prices (November 6, 2026). It mainly sells proof and collectible coins, which carry higher markups than plain bullion. Its record holds 5 BBB complaints in three years and a pending class action over sales calls and texts. The company answers complaints in writing, publishes a frank Risk Disclosure and states its minimum.

The spot price is today's market price for one ounce of raw metal. A proof coin has a mirror collector finish and sells well above plain bullion. So is Reagan Gold Group legit? Yes, as a business; the cost risk sits in what it sells and what it does not publish.

What should a careful buyer ask before sending money? Get four things by email before the recorded call: the price per coin with its percent over spot, the spread band (bullion or premium), the customer agreement with its section G, and the custodian's fee schedule.

Look elsewhere if you want to compare prices online, need the money soon, or are offered proof coins for a retirement account.

Reagan Gold Group is a Los Angeles precious metals dealer, owned by Steve Francis, that sells gold and silver coins and bars for home delivery or inside a self-directed IRA. Its About page lists "direct gold and silver purchases, eligible retirement-account options, liquidations, distributions, and precious metals exchanges". Its Risk Disclosure adds: "Reagan Gold Group does not act as an IRA custodian, trustee, or legal advisor." The same page says "All accounts with Reagan Gold Group are self-directed" and "Transactions involving precious metals occur within an unregulated market" (read November 6, 2026).

Why does the legal name matter? Complaints, court cases and your contract use the legal name, not the brand.

Reagan Gold Group, LLC: the name, address and phone numbers to check#

Federal court records and the BBB list the company as Reagan Gold Group, LLC. Its website gives 6080 Center Drive, Suite 850, Los Angeles, California 90045 as its head office. The company uses two web domains, reagangoldgroup.com for the site and rggusa.com for email. Its X account is "RGG_USA", and its YouTube channel is "@TheGoldShowRggusa". Its published phones are 1-888-634-1523 and (213) 291-9680 (November 6, 2026).

Search the full name with "LLC", and check that the number that called you is one the company publishes. Our guide shows how to check a gold IRA company by its legal name.

Who owns Reagan Gold Group?#

Steve Francis owns Reagan Gold Group: a June 1, 2026 filing in federal court names him as the LLC's "sole Member", and the BBB lists him as CEO. The filing in Trupia v. Onvoy LLC, W.D. Okla. No. 5:25-cv-01134, Doc. 73 says the company "identifies Steve Francis as its sole Member, a resident of California". It adds that the company is "not a publicly held entity" and has "no parent corporations". In a second case, Hoffman v. Reagan Gold Group LLC, W.D. Wash. No. 3:24-cv-06003 (pending), the company disclosed "no Corporate Parents and/or Affiliates" (Doc. 32, May 13, 2026).

When did Reagan Gold Group start? 2017, not "15+ years"#

The BBB lists Reagan Gold Group's business start as August 24, 2017, which makes the company 9 years old on November 6, 2026. Its own FAQ says "since 2017". Its homepage and About page say "15+ Years of Previous Metals Experience" and "15+ Years of Industry Experience". SafeOunce found no record of the business before 2017.

The table shows the age statements on the company's pages and at the BBB.

Is Reagan Gold Group connected to Ronald Reagan?#

No: Reagan Gold Group's own footer says "This website is not affiliated with Ronald Reagan or the U.S. Government". The site still uses Ronald Reagan quotations on its promise pages. It also offers a "1 oz Ronald Reagan Silver Coin" as a reward when someone you refer buys $2,500 or more.

How a Reagan Gold Group gold IRA works, step by step#

A Reagan Gold Group gold IRA works in 5 steps, and each starts with a phone call, because the site has no online ordering and no posted prices. A self-directed IRA can hold assets such as metal. The custodian holds the IRA and sends statements; the depository is the vault. The 5 steps are listed below.

  1. Call a specialist; the FAQ calls them "Commodity Specialist[s]".
  2. Open a self-directed IRA at a custodian, and ask which one the company uses.
  3. Move money by a direct transfer, or by a direct rollover from a plan such as a 401(k).
  4. Choose coins or bars on a recorded confirmation call; the company says it then sends itemized invoices.
  5. Check that the metal shows on your custodian statement.

The tax code lets an IRA hold bullion only "in the physical possession of a trustee" (26 U.S.C. 408(m)(3)(B)). The SEC warns that custodians "generally do not evaluate the quality or legitimacy of any investment".

A gold IRA transfer between custodians has no 60-day clock and no once-a-year limit, so ask for one.

Reagan Gold Group's record shows 5 BBB complaints in three years, 19% one-star reviews on Trustpilot, three federal lawsuits about sales calls and no regulator action found (November 6, 2026). Its star ratings are high, and its complaints are mostly about price. The table sums up the Reagan Gold Group complaints, reviews and legal record, each with its date and source.

BBB and Trustpilot numbers, and their limits#

Reagan Gold Group has an A+ BBB grade with 8.9 complaints per 100 reviews (5 on 56), and a 4.0 Trustpilot score from 38 reviews, as of November 6, 2026. BBB accreditation is a paid membership with standards, not a license. In the BBB's rating method, 90 of 100 positive points relate to complaints, and reviews do not count. The BBB complaints page lists Product Issues 3, Order Issues 1 and Service or Repair 1, with 1 text shown.

The table sets Reagan Gold Group's BBB complaint rate beside ten other gold IRA sellers.

Company BBB complaints per 100 BBB reviews Date
Lear Capital 22.1 (33 / 149) September 29, 2026
American Hartford Gold 13.8 (111 / 804) October 2, 2026
Reagan Gold Group 8.9 (5 / 56) November 6, 2026
Priority Gold 5.9 (38 / 648) September 29, 2026

Patriot Gold Group 0 (0 / 80) September 29, 2026
Freedom Gold USA 0 (0 / 5) October 2, 2026

Four of the 5 complaints came in the last 12 months. And 19% one-star on Trustpilot is a high share for this industry: Goldco's is 3% (September 29, 2026). Trustpilot also adds seven 3.5-star reviews to every company's score.

Trustpilot marks the profile "Asks customers to review" (claimed October 2018). Invited reviews come from customers the company chooses to ask. That helps explain the split: 76% five-star, 5% four-star and 19% one-star, with little in between (November 6, 2026).

Four of the ten newest BBB reviews (September 8 to October 2, 2026) are five-star notes from callers who have not bought yet. So star averages here measure phone manner more than prices.

Our ratings page covers how far BBB and Trustpilot ratings can be trusted.

What the BBB complaint says, and Reagan Gold Group's answer#

The one BBB complaint the bureau publishes, filed July 14, 2026, comes from an IRA buyer who says Reagan Gold Group bought premium coins instead of the bullion requested. The company says the buyer agreed to them on a recorded call. The complaint concerns an October 2025 rollover. The buyer says coins "not strictly considered bullion" were bought "against my explicit instructions". The buyer says the account then showed about 25% less, because statements show "spot or melt value". In February 2026, the buyer says, a cost of "32-35%" was quoted to sell, and the buyer asks for the contract to be voided.

A 25% drop is above the 15% top of the quoted bullion band and inside the 5%-35% premium band. Statements use metal value, not the dealer's bid, so the drop is a rough guide to which band applied, not the exact spread.

Reagan Gold Group calls the allegations "unfounded and inaccurate". It says the metals "were confirmed in a recorded confirmation with the client's consent", with disclosures in "the invoices ... and the customer agreement they signed". It says invoice 2774, "containing the complementary metals", was delivered and signed for on November 6, 2025. It adds that its buyback has no fee "as stated in section 'G'", and that the buyer "has retained Legal Counsel".

The BBB status is "Answered"; the buyer rejected the reply on July 28, 2026. The dispute is about product type and price, not metal that never arrived.

What one-star Trustpilot reviewers report#

About one in five (19%) of Reagan Gold Group's 38 Trustpilot reviews are one-star (November 6, 2026). They describe one pattern: proof and numismatic coins, and an account worth far less than was paid. Numismatic means valued as a collectible, above the metal. The 3 patterns below are unverified reviewer statements.

  • Account value: one reviewer says a $100,000 rollover into "gold proof sets & silver eagles" on September 2, 2025 showed about $52,000 at once and about $65,000 by May 19, 2026.
  • Fees: two near-identical reviews (October 17 and 18, 2026) say about $30,000 of a $100,000 purchase in early 2025 "went to fees".
  • Coin type: a June 1, 2026 review says the company "heavily promote[s] proof coins or numismatic 'collectible' items".

Reagan Gold Group answers that for collectible coins, spot price "does not account for ... rarity, mintage, condition". In another reply it writes: "we specialize in U.S.-minted coins, including proof and numismatic coins". It replied to 42% of negative reviews (November 6, 2026). Five-star reviewers praise patient, low-pressure calls.

Why a gold IRA statement can show less than you paid is explained on our statement guide.

Lawsuits: one pending telemarketing class action and two call-log suits#

Reagan Gold Group is a defendant in one pending federal class action over sales calls and texts. One man also named it in two Oklahoma suits, one of them dismissed (November 6, 2026). A class action is one person suing on behalf of a group.

Hoffman v. Reagan Gold Group LLC, W.D. Wash. No. 3:24-cv-06003 was filed on December 5, 2024 as a proposed class action. The complaint alleges at least 35 calls and texts from June 20, 2023 to November 20, 2024 to one Washington number. That number had been on the National Do Not Call Registry for more than 5 years. The texts allegedly promoted setting up a gold IRA, and the claims rest on the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (47 U.S.C. 227(c)(5)) and Washington's Commercial Electronic Mail Act.

A clerk entered a default against the company on January 31, 2025; a default notes that a defendant did not answer in time. The court set it aside on June 20, 2025. Reagan Gold Group has filed an answer (July 3, 2025); SafeOunce has not read it.

On September 10, 2026, the court ordered discovery "including the DAG lead data". Discovery is the stage where each side must hand over records. On October 13, 2026, the plaintiff said the company had not complied. Fact discovery closes December 4, 2026, and the class certification motion is due February 12, 2027. The case is pending, and the claims are allegations.

Trupia v. Heritage Hard Assets LLC, W.D. Okla. No. 5:24-cv-00498 reached federal court on May 16, 2024 from Oklahoma County (CJ-2024-2684), naming Reagan Gold Group, Steve Francis and others. The Hoffman plaintiff later filed it as an exhibit titled "Oklahoma TCPA Lawsuit". The court dismissed it without prejudice on February 25, 2025. Without prejudice means the case ended but can be filed again.

Trupia v. Onvoy LLC, W.D. Okla. No. 5:25-cv-01134 was filed on September 29, 2025 by the same man against Reagan Gold Group and other defendants. It attaches a call log. Motions to dismiss are pending; SafeOunce has read the docket, not the complaint.

No federal lawsuit over metal prices, delivery or storage was found on November 6, 2026. State-court and arbitration filings are not fully searchable. The calls law allows up to $500 per call to a Do-Not-Call number, and up to three times that if willful (47 U.S.C. 227(c)(5)).

How to stop gold IRA cold calls and texts under the Do-Not-Call rules is on our calls guide.

Regulator actions: none found#

SafeOunce found no CFTC, SEC or state regulator action against Reagan Gold Group, LLC in searches on November 6, 2026. That finding covers the searches made on that date, not every record that could exist. Every case SafeOunce tracks is in our list of precious metals IRA enforcement actions.

Reagan Gold Group's own numbers: 800 clients and $250 million#

Reagan Gold Group's homepage states "250M+ in assets preserved" and "800+ Clients Served", and gives no source for either number. Together they would mean about $312,500 per client. Its FAQ says it has "Proudly delivered several million in precious metals". The pages do not agree, and SafeOunce could not check either. The FAQ's "Supported by and partner with the United States Mint and Royal Canadian Mint" is also unverified.

Reagan Gold Group's Contract Terms: What Is Public and What Is Not#

Reagan Gold Group publishes a Risk Disclosure, a bullion cancellation policy and website terms, but not the customer agreement that sets prices, spreads and its buyback terms. Its website terms say: "Any purchases of products or services from Reagan Gold Group are governed by separate transaction agreements, which are available upon request." The Risk Disclosure says precious metals "are not appropriate for all investors" and should be bought "using discretionary funds".

The table compares what Reagan Gold Group publishes with three sellers' contracts, each dated.

The contracts of 17 sellers are compared clause by clause on gold IRA company contracts.

The customer agreement is not published, but its spread range has been quoted#

Reagan Gold Group's customer agreement is not on its website, but a buyer quoted its spread clause in a BBB complaint on July 28, 2026. As quoted, it reads: "The bid/ask spread for Common Bullion Products is typically between 2% and 15%. The bid/ask spread for all Premium Products, such as semi-numismatic and numismatic, is typically 5-35%." SafeOunce has not seen the agreement itself.

The CFTC calls "semi-numismatic" "a made-up industry term". Still, publishing a range is more than most sellers do. Lear Capital prints 2% to 35% in its own terms (December 2025).

Cancelling an order: bullion orders are final once confirmed#

Reagan Gold Group's policy says bullion orders are "final, binding, non-cancelable, and non-refundable once the order has been confirmed and the price has been locked". SafeOunce found no cancellation policy for premium coins. The policy is marked "Last Updated: January 1, 2026". A request to cancel "may result in market loss fees, administrative costs, or other amounts". It also says: "Any future sale of metals is a separate transaction."

Federal rules give a separate right. Under 26 CFR 1.408-6(d)(4)(ii), a new IRA can be revoked for at least 7 days. Revocation means cancelling a new IRA and getting the money back. The refund is "the entire amount ... without adjustment for such items as sales commissions, administrative expenses or fluctuation in market value". That right runs against the custodian, not the dealer.

How to cancel a gold IRA under the 7-day rule is explained step by step on our cancellation page.

Arbitration, California law and the website terms#

Reagan Gold Group's website terms choose California law, require 30 days of informal talks, then binding arbitration under JAMS rules, and waive class actions and jury trials. They send disputes first to support@rggusa.com, the company's second domain.

JAMS caps the consumer's filing fee at $250 under its consumer minimum standards. That cap applies only if the purchase agreement also uses JAMS.

Delivery time: 7 to 10 business days, and free shipping on qualifying orders#

Reagan Gold Group says most orders are "generally delivered within 7 to 10 business days after processing", in plain packaging, and that free shipping applies to "qualifying orders". Its homepage promises "Fast & Free Insured Shipping". Its shipping page is narrower: "Complimentary shipping may be available on qualifying orders, subject to program terms."

Seven to 10 business days sits well inside the CFTC's 28-day "actual delivery" benchmark (release 8215-20, August 4, 2020).

The steps to check delivery of IRA metal are on our delivery checklist.

Reagan Gold Group Fees: None Published#

Reagan Gold Group publishes no setup, annual or storage fee in dollars, as of November 6, 2026. Its FAQ promises "Transparent pricing ... no fine print" and "no hidden costs or surprises", but gives no numbers. Commingled storage means shared space: you get back the same type and amount of metal, perhaps not the same pieces. Segregated storage keeps your pieces apart.

The table shows the published metals fees of three common custodians, as a guide to what a Reagan Gold Group IRA could cost.

Custodian Setup Annual Storage Exit Source and date
Equity Trust (metals only) $50 $125 $110 shared or $160 segregated $250 termination; $30 per sale; $125 transfer out Fee schedule Rev. 081726
GoldStar Trust $50 $90 $125 commingled $150 termination Fee schedule Rev. 01/2026
STRATA Trust $50 (waived if electronic) $150 $115 commingled or $175 segregated $250 closure; $75 per trade Fee page, modified August 31, 2026

These are custodians' prices, not Reagan Gold Group's fees. The company names no custodian on its site, so ask which one it will use and request that custodian's dated fee schedule. Every custodian and seller is compared on gold IRA fees.

What other sites report about Reagan Gold Group fees#

BestMoney reported in August 2023 that a Reagan Gold Group agent quoted a 7% markup and a $230 yearly IRA fee, waived for two years. The company does not publish either figure. The same review, dated August 15, 2023, listed a "14-day price guarantee" and a $5,000 minimum. The company's FAQ now says $25,000 for an IRA (November 6, 2026). So treat the BestMoney fee figures as three years old, not as current prices. SafeOunce found no price guarantee on the company's homepage, FAQ or Buy-Back page, read November 6, 2026; the Buy-Back page says its price is "not fixed in advance".

The company's BBB reply mentions an invoice for "complementary metals", which shows that promotions exist. None is published on its site. What fee waivers are worth is worked out on no-fee gold IRA offers.

Reagan Gold Group Minimum Investment: $25,000 for an IRA, $10,000 for Cash#

Reagan Gold Group's minimum is $25,000 for a precious metals IRA rollover and $10,000 for a cash purchase, according to its FAQ read on November 6, 2026. The FAQ says: "The minimum amount you can invest in a precious metals IRA is $25,000 rollover and $10,000 minimum for cash purchases." The IRS sets no minimum. The 2026 IRA contribution limit is $7,500, plus $1,100 at age 50 and over (IRS Notice 2025-67).

At the minimum, account fees take about 1% a year. The table shows what $215 to $325 a year in custodian and storage fees takes from three account sizes.

Account size Yearly fees of $215 Yearly fees of $325
$25,000 0.86% 1.30%
$50,000 0.43% 0.65%
$100,000 0.22% 0.33%

Other sellers publish minimums too: Birch Gold Group $5,000, Noble Gold $20,000, Goldco $25,000, Patriot Gold Group $25,000, and Augusta Precious Metals $50,000 per Augusta's FAQ (SafeOunce review pages, September 29, 2026). Every published figure is compared on gold IRA minimums by company.

Reagan Gold Group Prices and Spreads: 2% to 35%, Quoted From Its Contract#

Reagan Gold Group publishes no prices; the only spread range found, quoted from its customer agreement, runs from 2% to 15% on bullion and 5% to 35% on premium coins. The spread is the share of your price that does not come back to you if you sell. Percent over spot is how far a coin's price sits above the raw metal price. American Hartford Gold caps bullion at 19.99% and other coins at 39.99% or 59.99% (contract, September 2026).

Few sellers print prices or spreads. In SafeOunce's October 2, 2026 check, 4 of 15 operating sellers published live prices: Orion Metal Exchange, U.S. Money Reserve, Lear Capital and Advantage Gold. Only 4 of 15 printed a spread range. Every published spread range is on gold IRA markups and spreads.

Orion Metal Exchange, a Los Angeles seller that prints its prices, charged 5.90% over spot for a 1 oz bullion Gold Eagle on September 29, 2026. For a 1 oz proof Gold Eagle it charged 13.38%. On $100,000, that buys about $94,400 of gold in bullion Eagles, or about $88,200 in proof Eagles. At the top of the quoted 35% band, the bid on $100,000 of premium coins would be $65,000. Orion's figures are a single dated snapshot.

The CFTC and FINRA say some fraudulent dealers have charged spreads of more than 300%, while other dealers may charge less than 20% (CFTC/FINRA "10 Things" advisory, March 20, 2024).

Federal phone-sales rules back you up. A seller by phone must tell you the total cost and quantity before you pay (16 CFR 310.3(a)(1)(i)).

How much gold must rise before you break even#

At a 35% bid/ask spread, gold must rise about 54% before you can sell back for what you paid; at 2%, it must rise 2%. The table shows the price rise needed to sell back at your purchase price, at five spreads, before account fees.

Bid/ask spread (share of price paid) Price rise needed to break even
2% 2.0%
5% 5.3%
15% 17.6%
25% 33.3%

What $100,000 With Reagan Gold Group Could Cost: Year 1 and 10 Years#

On $100,000, the spread range quoted from Reagan Gold Group's contract means you could sell back the same day for $98,000 at 2%, $85,000 at 15% or $65,000 at 35%. Ten years of custodian, storage and exit fees add about $2,400 to $3,700. The table shows the year one value and the ten years total cost at three spreads.

Spread Day-one sell-back value Spread cost 10 years of custodian, storage and exit fees 10-year total cost Share of $100,000
2% $98,000 $2,000 $2,410-$3,650 $4,410-$5,650 4.4%-5.7%
15% $85,000 $15,000 $2,410-$3,650 $17,410-$18,650 17.4%-18.7%
35% $65,000 $35,000 $2,410-$3,650 $37,410-$38,650 37.4%-38.7%

The gap between 2% and 35% is $33,000 on day one, at least nine times ten years of fees at any custodian in the table. So the coin type you buy matters more than the custodian you pick.

One Trustpilot reviewer says a $100,000 account showed about $52,000 right after a proof-coin purchase in 2025, and about $65,000 by May 19, 2026. The first figure is beyond the top of this range; both are the reviewer's, not verified.

Reagan Gold Group Products: Mostly Proof, Collectible and Pre-1933 Coins#

Reagan Gold Group's coin list holds 36 products, and only 10 are plain bullion; the rest are proof, collector and pre-1933 US gold coins (November 6, 2026). No bullion American Gold Eagle or Gold Maple Leaf is shown; gold bullion buyers see a Gold Buffalo and gold bars. Bullion means coins and bars priced close to their metal value. Pre-1933 gold means US gold coins struck before 1933, now sold as collectibles.

The table groups the 36 products on Reagan Gold Group's coin gallery.

Group Count Examples Company's "IRA approved" badge
Plain bullion 10 Gold Buffalo, 1 oz gold bars, Valcambi gold and silver CombiBars, Silver Eagle, 5 oz America the Beautiful, Silver Maple Leaf, silver rounds, 10 oz and 100 oz silver bars Yes, on all 10
Proof Eagles 5 Proof Gold Eagle 1, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/10 oz; Proof Silver Eagle Yes
Modern high-relief gold 1 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Yes
Pre-1933 US gold 10 Indian Head $1, $2.50, $5, $10; Liberty Head $1, $2.50, $5, $10, $20; Saint-Gaudens $20 No, except the Indian Head $1 card
Classic 90% silver 5 Morgan and Peace dollars; Walking Liberty, Franklin and Kennedy half dollars No
Modern collector issues 5 Morgan and Peace dollars (2021-style proofs), Morgan and Peace reverse proof set, Kennedy gold half dollar, American Liberty 3-piece set No
Total 36 17 items carry the badge

The company's own words match the list: it says it specializes in proof and numismatic coins (Trustpilot reply, September 17, 2026). Its Risk Disclosure adds that "for certain premium products, a holding period of ten years or longer may be considered". What custodians accept for proof coins in an IRA, and the markup problem, is on our proof coin page.

Plain bullion is on the list for a buyer who asks for it. How numismatic coin upsells work in gold IRAs is explained on our upsell guide.

Which Reagan Gold Group coins can go in an IRA?#

Of Reagan Gold Group's 36 products, the 10 plain bullion items fit the IRA rules and the 5 proof Eagles are accepted by custodians; its pre-1933 gold coins and 90% silver coins do not qualify. Fineness means purity: .995 means 99.5% gold. The rule paths for each group are listed below.

  • American Gold Eagle and Silver Eagle: bullion Eagles are eligible by name under 26 U.S.C. 408(m)(3)(A), whatever their purity (the Gold Eagle is .9167). Custodians such as STRATA and GoldStar accept proof Eagles, but no IRS ruling or court case confirms proofs.
  • Gold Buffalo and gold bars: eligible as bullion under 408(m)(3)(B), at .995 gold or finer.
  • Silver bars, rounds and Silver Maple Leaf: eligible as bullion at .999 silver or finer.
  • Pre-1933 gold and 90% silver coins: not eligible, because 90% metal is not named in the law and sits below the purity line. Why pre-1933 gold coins in an IRA do not qualify is on our Double Eagle page.
  • Ultra High Relief Double Eagle: custodian acceptance is not established; ask the custodian before you buy.

Exactly which coins and bars the tax code allows is on IRA-approved precious metals.

One badge is wrong. The gallery card for the Indian Head $1 gold coin, 90% gold, shows the "IRA approved" badge, but the coin's own page says "IRA Approved: NO". The Liberty Head $1 card lists "0.9675 Troy oz", the gold in a $20 Double Eagle. Its Liberty Head $1 page gives "Fine Metal Weight 26.73 g", while its Indian Head $1 page gives the gold dollar as 1.672 g (pages read November 6, 2026).

IRA rule claims on Reagan Gold Group's site, checked#

Three statements on Reagan Gold Group's pages get IRA rules wrong or blur them, and two get them right, as read on November 6, 2026. The table sets three statements from the company's pages beside the rule.

Company statement (page) The rule
Funds go "to the custodian of your choice ... As long as this process is complete within a 60-day timeframe, there will be no penalties or taxes." (FAQ) A direct transfer or direct rollover has no 60-day clock. The 60-day rule applies only when the money is paid to you, and a 401(k) payout to you has 20% withheld (IRC 3405(c)). IRA-to-IRA 60-day rollovers are limited to one per 12 months (IRS Publication 590-A).
"IRS-approved custodian" and "IRS-approved gold or silver coins and bars" (401(k) page); "IRS-approved depositories" (privacy page) The IRS keeps a list of approved nonbank trustees (Treas. Reg. 1.408-2(e)), but no list of coins, bars or vaults. Bullion must be "in the physical possession of a trustee" (26 U.S.C. 408(m)(3)(B)).
IRA metals must be "Gold 99.5% ..." (FAQ) True for bars and most coins, but the Gold Eagle is 91.67% and eligible by name (408(m)(3)(A)). The company shows its "IRA approved" badge on 91.67% proof Gold Eagles.

Two statements are right and matter. The privacy page says "Gold IRAs are not anonymous". The Risk Disclosure says the company "does not guarantee that products can be sold at or above their original purchase price". The 60-day trap is explained on direct vs indirect rollover.

Reagan Gold Group Buyback: "Not Fixed in Advance"#

Reagan Gold Group says it "may offer to repurchase qualifying items" at the "prevailing market price at the time of liquidation", with a price "not fixed in advance". Its reply to a BBB complaint calls the buyback "a voluntary service ... without any fees or penalty", citing section G of its customer agreement. Its Buy-Back page asks whether the program guarantees "a specific price", and answers "No."

The same page says "Not all metals or products may qualify for buyback". The price depends on "product type, metal content, condition, market demand". Contracts at American Hartford Gold, Lear Capital, Preserve Gold, Goldline and American Bullion say the law prohibits guaranteeing a repurchase.

No fee is not the same as no cost. One BBB complainant says a 32%-35% cost was quoted to sell, while the company says no fee applies. Both can be true if the cost is the low bid, not a fee.

What each contract actually promises is on gold IRA buyback programs compared.

Reagan Gold Group Custodian and Depository: Delaware Depository, Custodian Not Named#

Reagan Gold Group's FAQ says IRA metals "will be stored with Delaware Depository", but its site names no IRA custodian, as of November 6, 2026. Its Risk Disclosure says custodian referrals are "provided for convenience only"; the choice "remains the client's responsibility". FDIC and SIPC insurance never cover IRA metal. Every custodian's charter and fees are compared on gold IRA custodians.

The three questions below settle who holds your metal; ask them before you sign.

  • Which custodian will hold my IRA, and may I choose another?
  • Is the account at Delaware Depository titled to my IRA?
  • Is storage segregated or commingled, and at what yearly price?

The vault's own terms apply to your metal. Fees, insurance and locations are on our page about Delaware Depository.

Is IRA metal at Delaware Depository insured for its full value?#

Delaware Depository's insurance covers the metal's value, not the premium you paid. So the FAQ's "100% protection for the full value of your stored metals" does not cover what collector coins cost above their metal. The FAQ says the metals are "insured by Lloyd's of London". Delaware Depository carries $1 billion of all-risk cover plus $100 million contingent cover. It pays spot or melt value unless a declared value is on file, and it excludes war, terrorism, cyber events and confiscation.

If $35,000 of a $100,000 purchase is premium over metal value, that $35,000 is not insured. Vault insurance and audits are compared on gold IRA depositories.

Reagan Gold Group Pros and Cons#

Reagan Gold Group's six strengths are about openness on risk and a long BBB record; its six weaknesses are about prices, product mix and a pending lawsuit. The table lists both sides, as of November 6, 2026.

Pros Cons
BBB A+, accredited since 2018 No fees, prices or spreads published
No regulator action found (Nov. 6, 2026) Customer agreement not public
Publishes its IRA and cash minimums 26 of 36 listed products are proof, collectible or pre-1933 coins, and its quoted contract allows spreads up to 35% on them
Frank Risk Disclosure: no guaranteed resale price, not a custodian, not for money you need Bullion orders final once confirmed
Answers complaints in writing Pending class action over calls and texts to a Do-Not-Call number
Plain bullion available on request IRA rule errors on its pages ("60-day", "IRS-approved", "100% protection")

Who Reagan Gold Group Suits, and Who Should Walk Away#

Reagan Gold Group can suit a buyer moving $25,000 or more (its IRA minimum per its FAQ, November 6, 2026) into plain bullion, who gets the price, spread band and customer agreement by email first. It does not suit anyone who wants to compare prices online, or anyone offered proof or collector coins for a retirement account. The table matches six reader situations to a verdict.

Your situation Verdict Why
Under $25,000 Not eligible for an IRA here Below the IRA minimum; a low-cost gold fund in an existing IRA costs less. See gold IRA vs gold ETF.
$25,000 to $100,000 in plain bullion Workable with conditions Only if the quote shows percent over spot and the 2%-15% bullion band applies in writing
Offered proof, collector or pre-1933 coins Walk away, or get the bid in writing At a 35% spread, gold must rise about 54% to break even
You want a written contract before paying Ask first Ask for the customer agreement and section G; if it does not arrive, do not confirm
Money needed within 5 years Look elsewhere At a 15% spread, gold must rise about 18% just to break even, before fees
Already bought, and the statement shows much less Check your papers Compare the invoice with the statement; see the next-step box below

How SafeOunce Rates Reagan Gold Group#

Reagan Gold Group shows "Rating pending": SafeOunce has not yet opened an evidence file for it under method v1.1, so no points are counted yet. The rating card at the top of this page comes from that file once it exists. A result stays provisional until all 100 points are checked. The table shows each criterion and what public records already say.

Criterion (method v1.1) Points Inputs known from public records (Nov. 6, 2026) Status

G Custody and delivery 5 Delaware Depository named; custodian not named; delivery 7 to 10 business days Not yet checked

Reagan Gold Group triggers none of the 5 gates on the records SafeOunce read on November 6, 2026. It is operating and not sanctioned, no settled pricing or disclosure case was found (the pending Hoffman case is about calls), and no non-delivery complaint was found at the BBB or a regulator. The BBB shows the text of 1 of its 5 complaints; the other 4 are not yet checked.

Weights and evidence rules are on how SafeOunce rates gold IRA companies.

How Does Reagan Gold Group Compare With Other Gold IRA Companies?#

Reagan Gold Group publishes less about cost than most rivals, and its BBB complaint rate sits above Goldco's and Augusta's but below American Hartford Gold's and Lear Capital's. The table compares it with five sellers on the figures from their SafeOunce review pages.

Company BBB business start IRA minimum Account fees published Spread range published BBB complaints per 100 reviews
Reagan Gold Group Aug. 24, 2017 $25,000 No Not published (2%-35% quoted in a complaint) 8.9 (Nov. 6, 2026)

Freedom Gold USA Nov. 22, 2022 Not published No No 0 (Oct. 2, 2026)

What are the top 5 gold IRA companies? SafeOunce ranks sellers by total cost, contract terms and legal record, not by marketing. Rankings by real cost are on best gold IRA companies.

Reagan Gold Group vs Patriot Gold Group and other California sellers#

Reagan Gold Group and Patriot Gold Group are both California dealers with a $25,000 IRA minimum and no published prices (Reagan Gold Group, November 6, 2026), but Patriot had 0 BBB complaints (September 29, 2026). Patriot Gold Group is a Seal Beach seller with a BBB start of March 15, 2016. The full Patriot Gold Group review covers its record and its "No Fees for Life" offer. Goldco shares the $25,000 minimum but publishes its fees; see the Goldco review.

Other smaller gold IRA companies SafeOunce reviews#

Reagan Gold Group is one of five smaller gold IRA sellers SafeOunce checks with the same records, beside Freedom Gold USA, GoldenCrest Metals, Bishop Gold Group and National Gold Group. The four reviews are listed below.

Who writes the Reagan Gold Group reviews you find online?#

Most pages that rank for "Reagan Gold Group reviews" are the company's own pages, affiliate reviews with sign-up buttons, or a paid press release from WireDaily dated April 28, 2025. Caracal Gold's review (October 12, 2026) says "We may earn a commission if you open an account through our links". It shows a "Get Reagan Gold Group's free info kit" button. It also marks the company "Fully insured: Yes", which the vault terms above do not support for premiums. The WireDaily release links to "WireDaily's Top-Ranked Gold IRA Company", and BestMoney's figures date from 2023.

Two other affiliate reviews carry errors (read November 6, 2026). Goldiracompaniescompared.com shows "$50-$150" setup and "$80-$300" annual as Reagan Gold Group's costs, with no source; the company publishes no fees. Goldirablueprint.com (February 14, 2026) lists at-home storage, which IRA metal cannot use, and a "14 business days" price guarantee SafeOunce did not find on the company's pages.

Our guide to whether gold IRA reviews are paid shows how to spot a paid ranking. See who pays SafeOunce and what money cannot buy. SafeOunce takes no money from any company named on this page.

The Gold Show radio program and commission-paid sales staff#

Reagan Gold Group sponsors "The Gold Show", a radio program hosted by Walt Philips, and pays sales staff $18.42 an hour plus uncapped commission (job ads, November 6, 2026). The site says "The Gold Show is an educational program from Reagan Gold Group". BBB reviewers mention calling after hearing the show.

The job ads give an Account Executive "advertised annual pay range" of $30,000 to $300,000. A Sales Manager earns "From $100,000/year" plus uncapped commission. The radio host role pays "From $100,000.00 per year + performance-based incentives".

Who is paid to recommend which seller is tracked on gold IRA endorsements.

Can you keep Reagan Gold Group IRA gold at home?#

No: IRA bullion must be in the physical possession of a trustee, and Reagan Gold Group's FAQ says IRA metals are stored at Delaware Depository. Taking IRA coins home is treated as a taxable distribution of what they cost (McNulty v. Commissioner, 157 T.C. No. 10, November 18, 2021). BestMoney's 2023 answer that home storage is possible in a bank box or an LLC is wrong for IRA metal. The court case is covered on home storage gold IRA.

Does Reagan Gold Group sell gold outside an IRA?#

Yes: Reagan Gold Group sells coins and bars for home delivery, with a $10,000 minimum for cash purchases and delivery in about 7 to 10 business days (company FAQ and shipping page, November 6, 2026). Outside an IRA, the same price and spread questions apply.

What is the downside of a gold IRA with Reagan Gold Group?#

The main downside is cost you cannot see in advance: no published fees or prices, and a quoted spread of up to 35% on premium coins. Gold also pays no interest or dividends. The company's own Risk Disclosure says gold and silver "do not generate income". The general case is on gold IRA pros and cons.
